Common Core Skills Course and Knowledge Training
This Common Core Skills and knowledge Course is designed to build on nannies existing work experience and knowledge, with a focus on developing the skills required to work with children, young people and families.
What is the Common Core Skills?
The Common Core set out by the Children’s Workforce Development Council reflects a set of common values for childcare practitioners. The 6 key areas include:
– Communicating with children, young people, their parents and carer
– Child and young person development
– Safeguarding
– Supporting transitions
– Multi-agency working
– Information sharing
Paediatric First Aid for nannies
Candidates are required to complete Paediatric First Aid course that covers all the necessary requirements for registration on the Ofsted Voluntary Register Babyem complete the Common Core Skills Course and Paediatric First Aid in one weekend, taking the stress away from registering with Ofsted.
How often does the certificate need to be renewed?
People must renew their first aid certificate every three years after the date the training was completed. You may wish to make sure relevant people undertake refresher courses annually. Ofsted currently state that there is no set minimum length of time for a first aid course for the Childcare Register. Most nannies complete either a 12 hour course or a reduced version i.e. 6 hours. However, the guidelines state that that the individual must ensure the course is suitable with adequate practical training.
