Funding for Maternity Courses
We are recognised by the Department of Work and Pension and for those candidates who are currently unemployed, we are able to provide subsidised places on our Maternity Courses in London. Our maternity course in London is taught by a leading international Breastfeeding Consultant, who is also a qualified Midwife, Health visitor and regularly consults for charitable organisations regarding premature babies. Our 2 Day Maternity Course also draws on the experience of leading maternity nurses and sleep consultants in the field to ensure our maternity courses are practical and relevant to Maternity Nurses.
Maternity Nurse Course – Course Content
Health & Care of Newborns, Caring for premature babies, Breast Feeding – Positioning/Attachment, Formula Feeding, Expressing and Overcoming Difficulties, Sleep in babies, Implementing Sleep and Feeding Routines, Infant Skin Problems (acne, eczema, etc.) Common illnesses in babies, Meningitis, Colic and Reflux, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Infant soothing techniques, Postnatal Depression and Care of Postnatal Mums, Interviews & creating a winning CV, Finding employment as a Maternity Nurse, Working with Agencies.
Maternity Nurse Work placements
In 2013 we placed over 80 maternity nurses with parents for free. Our maternity nurse placement scheme provides an invaluable service to parents in the first 3 months of having a baby, as well as supporting newly qualified maternity nurses to gain confidence and develop their skills. All candidates have access to our work placement scheme, with 85% of candidates stating this has helped them gain employed within the first 6 months of completing the course.
Maternity Nurse Course dates and venue
Our unique maternity course runs throughout the year on a monthly basis. All Childcare and Maternity Courses take place in the 5* Rydges Hotel in Kensington, using their fully equipped training suite.
Pre course requirements
Candidates must have worked with babies for at least 2 years prior to attending and have a good level of English. We complete a pre assessment with all candidates prior to the course to ensure our courses are adapted to meet the needs of all candidates.
Maternity Courses are active and engaging and use a variety of techniques including quizzes, practical activities, role play and case studies in order to meet all learning styles.
Continued professional development
Babyem deliver a range of specialist accredited Maternity Courses including the 2 day Maternity Nurse Course (MNT Course) Sleep Training Skills, Breastfeeding Skills, Postnatal Depression Awareness, Care of Multiples and Baby Massage Courses. All specialist courses are delivered by experts in their field including Le Leche League training leads, Sleep Consultants, Clinical leads and Paediatricians.
