I consider myself enthusiastic, cheerful and determined; my positive mindset and caring disposition have helped me expand my career within the childcare sector. I have personal experience dealing with newborns but wish to expand my knowledge within this placement scheme. With my knowledge as a practitioner, I am able to create an enabling environment for children to happily learn and grow which is what I hope to achieve as a Maternity nurse also. I wish to encourage clients to establish healthy routines that work for them and their babies, with continued support throughout infancy.
Education
The degree I am studying spans from ages 0 to 18 and includes learning about child development and psychology, international childhoods, research with children, and children’s literature. It also explores children's and young people’s lives from different perspectives alongside students studying and working in different settings. I hope by studying this subject, to broaden my career perspectives and branch out into a form of family social work.
I completed my blended maternity course with Babyem in the summer of 2021. I am competent in working as a Maternity Nurse
Sleep Care, Baby Care, Feeding Basics, Colic and Reflux and First Aid.
I completed my early years' apprenticeship with The Challenge and did my year-long placement within the LEYF Organisation. Here I learned and implemented my skills such as Child Development, Safeguarding laws and Work setting Policies, Parent Partnership and First aid.
Experience
I am currently helping care for and facilitate after nursery activities for a two year old boy. This includes picking him up from nursery, taking him to a local activity like storytime at the library, then arriving home to cook tea and play with him until his parents arrive home from work.
Within the school setting, I help prepare fun and intellectual activities for the nursery and reception classes of the school, this includes both indoor and outdoor provisions as well as good hygiene maintenance i.e. washing hands and serving meals.
As a practitioner, I am able to facilitate stimulating activities from ages 0 to 5 years. This also includes maintenance of good hygiene, i.e washing hands and changing nappies and helping to serve meals.
