I am a mother with 2 grown up daughters. I am very interested is pursuing a career in "Post Natal Maternity Nursing". I have already undertaken a 12 week “Jackie Nancey” course in Advanced Maternity Nursing, for which I was awarded a certificate in December 2014.
During the above course, I enjoyed a 2-week opportunity to work for a family with new-born twins. I later worked for a family where the mother was suffering from post-natal depression for 2 months.
I later gained valuable skills when I worked for a family, intermittently, with a slightly older child who had just been diagnosed as having a “learning” difficulty
In addition to the above, from 2014 to 2019 I looked after babies/children for two different families. Both mothers had caesarean sections. One of the babies was circumcised and I was able to look after it successfully.
After a break, I undertook a refresher course in March 2022 with Babyem Post Natal Maternity Nursing Course Level3. I finished the course and was awarded a level 3 certificate in "Post Natal Maternity Nurse Care"
SKILLS:
I can support a mother to welcome a new-born baby into the family, including settling the baby into a daily routine; bathing and changing; and ensuring that the nursery is safe, clean and tidy.
As a maternity nurse, I can help in feeding the baby depending on the mother’s choice of feed.
Career Objectives
My ambition is to get more knowledgeable, confident and experienced in Maternity Nursing by working with a lot more families. I would be happy to undertake this role with both single babies, twins or babies with complex needs.
Education
In 2001, I joined University College London to study Podiatry. 3 years later, I worked as a Podiatry assistant at three London healthcare trusts (Brent, Barnet and Hounslow 2004- 2018).
In 2005 I worked as a health care assistant and support worker with “Silverland” and other London based “care settings” employed through different agencies.
Experience
I work in e-commerce department. In this department I sort /collate and pack orders ready to be dispatched to customers.
Sometimes I also work in the "Returns department" depending on where manpower is needed within the Organisation. In this department, we process parcels which have been returned by customers and process them for Refund.
