Maternity Nurse Code of Professional conduct

Maternity Nurses are independent practitioners with a duty of care to their clients. This duty of care exists whether or not a fee has been paid to the Maternity Nurse.

The Maternity Nurse Code is designed to protect the public and maintain the high standards of care that we know to expect of a maternity nurse graduates.

Follow these guidelines to ensure good care and good outcomes for your clients:

• Bonding is a priority
• Empower parents
• Set SMART goals
• Support clients
• Set goals which are age and developmentally appropriate
• Know when to refer
• Always seek support from the Babyem team if you have concerns.
